Custom Bladeless LASIK Surgery

An Introduction to Custom Bladeless LASIK

  • Custom Bladeless LASIK reduces a person’s dependency on glasses or contact lenses and offers the fastest recovery time of all vision correction procedures.
  • Custom Bladeless LASIK is the most advanced LASIK technology available in North America.
  • As another example of our leadership, we were one of the first clinics in Canada to offer this advanced technology to patients.

What Conditions Does Custom Bladeless LASIK address?

We can use Custom Bladeless LASIK technology to treat

How Do You Know if Custom Bladeless LASIK Is Right for You?

The advanced technology involved in Custom Bladeless LASIK surgery (a femtosecond laser, that is the ZEISS VisuMax®) makes Custom Bladeless LASIK safer than traditional LASIK (by reducing flap complications).

Custom Bladeless LASIK delivers more precise results and therefore better visual outcomes than traditional LASIK. We can correct nearsightedness, for example, to a higher degree with Custom Bladeless LASIK because we can create a thinner corneal flap.

Patients also tend to feel more comfortable during this procedure knowing that it doesn’t involve any blades. With Custom Bladeless LASIK surgery, we can customize the flap size and other variables for a more personalized approach to vision care that addresses your unique needs.

Overall, Custom Bladeless LASIK has very high success rates. People who may not have been candidates for traditional LASIK, perhaps because of particularly severe refractive errors, may now be candidates for Custom Bladeless LASIK instead.

Benefits of LASIK Eye Surgery at Clearview Vision Institute

Our mission is simple: the best vision care for every patient. Led by Dr. Kranemann, we perform cutting-edge bladeless custom LASIK to patients impacted by vision problems. While traditional LASIK has been a standard care, we are going above and beyond to introduce highly sophisticated and advanced laser eye surgery.

Clearview Vision Institute is a pioneer in custom LASIK surgery. We use corneal mapping to get a full picture of the treatment area, which our highly trained surgeons use as a guide to create the corneal flap. This increased precision allows us to identify and treat even the smallest refractive errors, called higher order aberrations. The result is a LASIK operation tailored to your exact vision needs — to high success rates.

Are you considering bladeless LASIK? Enjoy these unmatched vision care benefits:

  • Significantly lower risk of intraoperative complications over traditional LASIK
  • Reduced complications common in other LASIK procedures, like diffuse lamellar keratitis, flap striae, and epithelial growth
  • Patients with greater refractive errors or thin corneas who were previously not good candidates for LASIK may now be treated.

At Clearview Vision Institute, we make these benefits possible thanks to our team of vision care specialists. Led by Dr. Kranemann, we have been pioneering cutting-edge custom or bladeless LASIK and other laser eye surgery procedures in Canada.

Dr. Kranemann brings years of recognition from renowned academic institutions and medical associations like the University of Toronto, The Royal Manchester Eye Hospital, and both the American and European Congress Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

When it comes to protecting and restoring your eyesight — the most valuable of the five senses — you will want only the best eye surgeon, cutting-edge procedures, and state-of-the-art equipment. Combined with the warm and welcoming environment at our clinic, our patients are happy to report highly successful LASIK procedures, healthy eyesight that lasts, and quality of life they never knew was possible.

Are there any age restrictions for Custom Bladeless LASIK?

Custom Bladeless LASIK is generally suitable for individuals over the age of 18, given that their vision prescription has remained stable for at least a year. This stability ensures the effectiveness of the LASIK correction over time. Potential candidates must consult with our eye care professional to assess their eligibility based on their specific circumstances.

Can I undergo Custom Bladeless LASIK if I have dry eyes?

The eligibility for Custom Bladeless LASIK when experiencing dry eyes depends on the severity of the condition. Mild or occasional dryness may not necessarily disqualify you, but it's essential to discuss your dry eye symptoms with our eye care professional during the consultation. They will evaluate the extent of dryness and may recommend pre-operative measures, such as artificial tears or other dry eye treatments, to address the issue before undergoing Custom Bladeless LASIK. Open communication with the eye care professional is crucial to ensure a thorough assessment of your eye health and determine the most suitable course of action for your specific situation.

How long does it take to achieve optimal vision after Custom Bladeless LASIK?

The timeline for achieving optimal vision after Custom Bladeless LASIK varies among individuals. While many patients notice significant improvements within the first 24 to 48 hours, it may take several weeks for vision to stabilize fully. Some individuals may experience ongoing enhancements in clarity and sharpness for several months as the eyes continue to heal. Regular follow-up appointments with our eye care professional are crucial to monitor progress and ensure the eyes are healing as expected.

Is there any discomfort during or after Custom Bladeless LASIK Surgery?

During Custom Bladeless LASIK surgery, patients typically experience minimal discomfort due to numbing eye drops administered beforehand. Some may feel slight pressure or sensations, but pain is uncommon. After the procedure, temporary sensations like itching or burning may occur, generally resolving within a few hours with proper post-operative care.

How does Custom Bladeless LASIK differ from traditional LASIK?

Custom Bladeless LASIK differs from traditional LASIK in the method used to create the corneal flap, a crucial step in the surgical process. In traditional LASIK, a microkeratome, a mechanical blade, is employed to make the corneal flap. In contrast, Custom Bladeless LASIK utilizes femtosecond laser technology to create a precise, bladeless corneal flap. This advanced laser technology enhances the accuracy of flap creation, allowing for a more customized and tailored approach to vision correction. Custom Bladeless LASIK also incorporates customized technology, enabling a personalized treatment plan that addresses unique imperfections in the eye, potentially resulting in improved visual outcomes and reduced side effects compared to traditional LASIK.

Is Bladeless LASIK better?

Yes. With the newest femtosecond LASIK technology, the laser creates a thin, precise uniform flap following the contour of your cornea and it better adheres to the cornea when placed back. There is also less risk of flap complications compared to Blade LASIK

What's the pros and cons of Blade vs. Bladeless LASIK?

Speed and comfort are the primary benefits of traditional blade LASIK, however there is a higher risk of flap-related complications, whereas with bladeless LASIK, the risk of flap complications are much reduced. There is also greater precision with bladeless LASIK

What do you do with old glasses after LASIK?

They are donated for eyecare missions, where eyecare professionals volunteer in communities that do not have direct access to eyecare. The donated glasses are cleaned, measured and sorted. Some of the people in these communities cannot see without glasses, and your glasses may be a close enough match to their prescription that can postively change their lives.

Can my myopia come back after LASIK?

Rarely does myopia return after LASIK surgery

Can my eyesight get worse after LASIK?

Your vision may change if there are other eye conditions unrelated to the cornea and unrelated to LASIK that develop over time. It is important after LASIK to have regular eye examinations every 1 to 2 years to ensure that the eye is healthy

Will I still need to wear glasses after LASIK Vision Correction?

The majority of patients are not depending on corrective lenses after surgery, or they become much less dependent. Final surgical outcomes depend on the tissue response and how you heal

Does LASIK last forever?

LASIK is a permanent surgical vision correction procedure. Retreatments are possible if the eye changes, which is uncommon

Is it worth getting Laser Vision Correction after 40?
