What to Expect On the Day of LASIK Surgery
September 30, 2013
The day has finally come where you will experience the LASIK procedure first-hand. While you may have a few butterflies in your stomach, you can be rest assured that you are in the best hands with our professional staff. Understanding exactly how the procedure works will help to relieve any uneasy feelings you may have. By knowing what to expect, you can prepare yourself for the specifics of the LASIK procedure. You can plan on being at the Clearview Institute for approximately 2 hours for the entire process. Make sure, however, that you clear your entire day as you will need the appropriate amount of time for recovery.
Most of the members of our staff at Clearview Institute have experienced the LASIK procedure themselves. This gives them the ability to empathize with your situation and help you to feel comfortable throughout the entire process. In addition, we will supply oral relaxation medication while you relax in the pre-op spa before heading into your procedure.
The nurse will escort you into the laser suite where you will stay for approx 15 minutes. Dr. Kranemann will discuss the entire LASIK procedure process, letting you know what is going on and what to expect each step of the way.
With a small light to focus on, you’ll stay comfortable throughout the entire process. After the LASIK procedure is complete, it is back to the pre-op spa, where you will relax for 20 minutes. This allows your eyes to recover and rest after the procedure.
Now that you’re home, it is important to rest your eyes as much as possible. This will help to speed up the recovery process. Clearview Institute will send you home with post-operative eye-drops, as well as protective goggles to use while you sleep. Don’t forget to visit us as Clearview Institute the day after your procedure for your first of six post-operative appointments over the course of one year.
