What To Expect After LASIK Surgery
October 14, 2013
Finally, the future of clearer eyesight is here. Now that you have experienced LASIK for yourself, it is important to take care of your eyes in order to maximize the benefits of the surgery. Although you can expect your healing time to be relatively fast, eye care professionals usually suggest taking a few days off of work so that you can rest your eyes and allow them to heal properly. There are some other basic care instructions that should be followed after having LASIK.
Many people have the false impression that perfect vision will be restored immediately after having the procedure; however, while your eyes are healing it is completely normal to experience some blurred vision. In most cases, the blurriness will improve substantially by the day after the procedure. When you return to the office for your post-operative exam, you should see a marked improvement in the amount of blurriness you are experiencing. You should arrange for a driver to bring you to your post-operative appointment as you may have some lingering blurriness or trouble focusing your eyes properly.
Minimal Pain Involved
There is minimal pain involved during or after the procedure is completed; however, some patients may experience a mild burning sensation for a few hours after the procedure. It is crucial to refrain from rubbing your eyes. If the stinging sensation has become too uncomfortable, your doctor may be able to prescribe some medication to ease your discomfort. Remember, the goal of Clearview Institute is to keep our patients as comfortable as possible before, during, and after your LASIK procedure.
